Estonia’s economic reforms have been recognized as some of the most successful among Central and Eastern European countries. The dynamic development and stability of the reforms over the last ten years enabled Estonia to wrap up talks on entry to the European Union in 2002. On May 1, 2004, Estonia became a full-fledged member of the European Union.

 

National currency: kroon (EEK), 1 kroon = 100 cents

The kroon is tied to the euro at a rate of 1 EUR = 15.6466 EEK

Personal income tax and profit tax is 21%[A.S1]

Profit reinvestment is not subjected to tax

VAT is 20%

 

International credit rating

Fitch: BBB+
